Quick Initial Impression of the Mobile App and Website
The Grok app is very minimal. Since it’s the first version of the app, and most first versions look similar, you can’t expect a bunch of features. However, it is very decent and minimal to use.
The font is also very clean and readable, unlike Claude, which is very bad.
To see your history, swipe left from the home screen. The search bar is at the bottom with a plus (+) icon where you can upload images or PDF files. A new chat ✍️ option is available from the top right.
For haptics, there is currently only limited functionality, which is not as good compared to ChatGPT. With ChatGPT, you can feel amazing haptic feedback whenever you receive an answer on your phone. However, this feature isn’t available on Grok as of now. It’s very new, but I care about this feature.
Overall, the app is very simple and easy to use. It’s not complex for new users or non-technical persons.
What I like in the Grok is that the app and website is very clean and very minimal.
If you see someone who created X, which is very clumsy, in my opinion, the web app on the mobile app I don’t see Grok AI is so much clean and very beautiful interface
Core Features
Grok 2.0
Grok 2.0 is xAI’s enhanced chatbot that has gained significant attention in the AI industry. It offers faster response times and improved language processing, particularly for coding and writing tasks. The platform features innovative integration with the FLUX.1 image generation model, which can access real-time data from 𝕏. While xAI has made Grok available to all users (with premium subscribers enjoying higher usage limits), its liberal approach to image generation has raised concerns about ethical implications and potential misuse. Nevertheless, Grok 2.0’s performance in AI benchmarks shows impressive results, especially in reasoning and problem-solving tasks.
Image Generation with no copyrights
The best part of Grok is its image generation unlike other AI tools like Gemini or ChatGPT Grok don’t sense or any of the content don’t copyright anything.
When I ask to create any branded images like let’s say create a Tesla car on the desert ChatGPT and Gemini will not create an exact image. Sometimes they even stop creating because of copyright issues, but Grok will do it. it’s not with only Tesla and I am suggesting an as an example, but it can do even with the faces you can ask to do any political figure faces any cars any brands anything so it don’t stop because of cooperating it will generate as bitter realistic, it can do.
Another great feature in Grok AI is its ability to browse from Twitter or X post. And X is the only social media platform that gives up-to-date information where for legacy media as it takes a couple of hours or even social media companies like me they don’t have that realistic engagement on to news X has that advantage and it give you very accurate information.
Recently, I asked a question about some podcast that I heard from Joe Rogan and when I asked that on Perplexity, ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok, except Grok, all others, give me a generic answer, which is not at all related to third podcast, but Gro give me a very accurate information too because users are uploading content on X and X has that more users and that’s the best part of Grok AI.
Partner program.
I emphasize on this from many months, mostly about any year. All the AI companies it can be Google Gemini or open ChatGPT or Claude or Perplexity. All these companies are using public content. It can be YouTube videos are verticals that are available on search engines, but they are not paying directly or indirectly to those writers or authors or the owners of the company or the website, but indirectly this AI companies are benefiting by taking their data and also that also results creators like me and others discouraging because users are going to ask AI for answers instead of reading our articles again, which directly Reduces our revenue, our viewership and more but these companies taking articles are not paying the creators is like very big problem.
The only company that’s indirectly paying was Grok. after Elon Musk took over Twitter after a few months, he announced her partner program for creators for who are writing on X they will get paid. It’s very small amount even like I’m not getting paid. I’m not eligible for that but for those who are eligible, they are paying very decent amount. At least they are paying something instead of just taking the data so I really appreciate on that for Elon Musk for doing such good thing.
Grok on X.
These are some of the most game-changing yet underrated features of Grok that many people aren’t aware of.
Before I explain further, I’m not talking about the Grok chatbot in the X app.
Did you know you can use Grok to get a summary of any X profile?
Did you know you can use Grok to analyze any post on X?
Profile Summary
Using Grok on X app, you can get a profile summary of any user. The tool analyzes a user’s previous posts to generate a concise one or two paragraph summary about who they are, what content they post, and their overall presence on the platform. This feature is particularly valuable when researching potential accounts to follow or verifying someone’s credibility.
I use the profile summary feature to make informed decisions about following influential people, as their content can significantly impact us both directly and indirectly. When I encounter educational posts, I can verify the creator’s background and expertise. This helps protect against potential misinformation or spam, making the profile summary feature an invaluable tool.
Accessing this feature is straightforward: simply visit any profile on the X website, look for the profile summary badge, and click it to receive an instant, concise summary.
Grok Explain This Post
At each post on X (except video posts), you’ll find an XAI or Grok icon. Tapping it provides a contextual analysis of that post.
This helpful feature offers quick understanding of posts, including image analysis. It’s especially useful when you want to learn about a topic or understand a meme. Grok can analyze and explain both educational content and memes effectively.
I use this feature daily for educational posts. With one tap of the icon, I get the context of the post, which helps me ask follow-up questions and conduct quick research that would otherwise be complex.
I particularly love using it for memes since I often struggle to understand them. Despite being young, I sometimes feel like a boomer when it comes to meme culture, so I rely on Grok to explain their meaning.
Directly publish your answers on X.
Any answer or query response you receive from Grok can be shared as a post on the X platform.
You can either use the copy option to copy and paste the content, or simply click the X logo to publish it directly.
If you’re impressed by Grok’s unique features, give this post a clap and share your favorite one!
Misinformation or bias
Many people believe that XAI or Grok is biased, but I disagree based on my experience using it.
When you hear such claims, it’s important to try the AI yourself and form your own opinion. From what I’ve gathered from friends and social media, no one has provided concrete evidence that Grok AI shows significant bias toward particular groups.
Since Grok provides sources for its queries, the risk of misinformation is reduced. I personally haven’t encountered any misleading information or bias in my usage, but feel free to share your experiences below.
Some of the common features are
PDF analysis: Like other AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity, Grok can analyze PDFs and answer questions about them.
Grok performs well at PDF analysis, especially compared to Gemini. While Grok isn’t quite as capable as ChatGPT or Claude in this area, it handles PDFs competently and can maintain good context in follow-up questions.
Image Analysis: While image analysis is a standard feature across AI platforms, Grok stands out with its ability to understand and explain memes thanks to its sense of humor — something Gemini and Claude often struggle with.
Browse Internet: Grok can search the internet automatically for most queries, unlike ChatGPT which requires manually enabling browsing. While ChatGPT may have better search capabilities, Grok’s automatic searching is more convenient. It also clearly cites its sources, whether they’re from the broader internet or X posts.
Some downsides or cons of Grok
Limited Free Version
Grok recently announced their free version with specific usage limits: 10 search queries per two hours, three image analyses per day, and four image generations per day. These limits may change in the future.
In comparison, competitors like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude handle their free versions differently. While they also have limitations for free users, you can still access their basic features throughout the day. With Grok, once you’ve reached your quota, you cannot use the service until the next reset period.
No Android app and limited iOS app availability
Currently, the Grok mobile app is only available on iOS in select countries, which significantly limits its accessibility. While broader international availability is expected in the future, there is no Android app yet, and there’s no clear timeline for Android development. This limitation extends to the web application, which is also restricted to certain countries. For now, users outside supported regions can only access Grok through the X app.
Small features that are missing but make a lot difference.
No voice to text chat option: Unlike other AI platforms, Grok lacks voice-to-text functionality. This helpful feature allows users to speak their queries instead of typing them, making it easier to input long questions. While we may see this capability in future updates, it’s currently unavailable on Grok.
No option to choose different models: Grok offers only one model (Grok 2), while competitors provide multiple options. ChatGPT has various models including GPT-4 and GPT-3.5, Gemini offers 1.5 and 2.0 versions with deep research capabilities, Claude provides 3.5 Sonnet and Haiku variants, and Perplexity also features multiple model choices.
No replies: ChatGPT and Gemini allow users to ask follow-up questions about specific parts of an AI’s response, which helps when exploring topics in detail. This useful feature is not yet available in Grok.
Let’s compare
The benchmark data reveals distinct strengths across AI models. Gemini 2 achieves 62.1% in graduate-level reasoning (GPQA) and 92.9% in code generation (HumanEval). Claude 3.5 Sonnet leads in grade school mathematics (96.4%) and document understanding (DocVQA) at 95.2%. GPT-4o shows consistent excellence across categories, notably in multilingual math (90.5%) and code generation (90.2%). Grok-2 excels in visual mathematics (MathVista) while maintaining strong overall performance. Rather than one model dominating entirely, each platform offers specific advantages: Gemini 2 for advanced reasoning and coding, Claude 3.5 Sonnet for mathematical and document analysis, GPT-4o for versatile performance, and Grok-2 for visual and mathematical tasks.
Grok-2 stands out in the AI landscape with impressive benchmark results. In visual mathematics, it achieves 69.0% on MathVista — higher than both GPT-4o and Gemini 2. Its document understanding capabilities shine through a 93.6% score on DocVQA, placing it among top performers. The model shows strong academic prowess with an 87.5% score in undergraduate knowledge (MMLU) and 75.6% in MMLU-Pro, competing closely with industry leaders. In mathematical problem-solving (MATH), Grok-2’s 76.1% score beats Claude 3.5 Sonnet. While not dominating every category, Grok-2’s consistent excellence across benchmarks — particularly in visual and mathematical tasks — shows it’s not only keeping pace with established models like GPT-4o and Claude 3.5 Sonnet but sometimes surpassing them. This makes it particularly valuable for users needing strong mathematical and visual reasoning capabilities.
Pricing
One of the most interesting aspects of Grok’s pricing is its connection with the X Premium+ subscription. Unlike other AI platforms that have standalone pricing, Grok takes a unique approach by bundling its service.
X Premium+ Subscription ($16/month)
Full access to Grok AI capabilities
Unlimited messages
Priority access to new features
No ads on X platform
Higher usage limits for image generation
Access to X’s premium features
Free Version Limitations While Grok offers a free tier, it comes with specific restrictions:
10 search queries every 2 hours
3 image analyses per day
4 image generations daily
Basic PDF analysis
Standard response times
What Makes Grok’s Pricing Unique
The most interesting aspect of Grok’s pricing model is its integration with X Premium+. While the $16 monthly fee might seem comparable to competitors, you’re essentially getting two services: a full-featured social media platform and a powerful AI assistant. This integration provides unique advantages:
Real-time Data Access
Direct access to X’s data stream
Up-to-date information from X posts
Integrated meme and trend analysis
Cost Efficiency
Bundled social media and AI features
Lower cost compared to standalone AI subscriptions
No need for multiple subscriptions for different services
Value-Added Features
Cross-platform integration
Seamless sharing capabilities
Premium X features included
The pricing structure reflects Grok’s unique positioning in the AI market. While other AI services focus on standalone subscriptions, Grok’s integration with X creates a different value proposition. For users already engaged with X’s ecosystem, the additional cost for Grok access can be particularly appealing. However, those looking for a pure AI service might find the platform requirement a limitation.
Do you think Grok’s pricing is fair? Let me know in the comments — I’d love to hear your take!
Conclusion
After spending weeks with Grok AI, I can confidently say that xAI’s approach isn’t just another drop in the ocean of AI chatbots — it’s a fresh take on integrating AI with our daily social media experience. While it might not be your go-to if you’re not active on X, Grok’s unique ability to understand memes, provide real-time X insights, and generate images without copyright restrictions makes it a standout tool for content creators and social enthusiasts. Yes, there are trade-offs: the limited free version, iOS-only availability, and missing features like voice input might give you pause. But here’s the thing — if you’re already on X or considering Premium+, Grok’s integration and competitive pricing make it an intriguing option, especially given its impressive benchmark performance in visual and mathematical tasks. Based on my experience, I’d recommend giving the free version a spin if you can access it. While it probably won’t replace your current AI toolkit entirely, Grok’s social-first approach and unique capabilities might just surprise you with how naturally it fits into your daily workflow. After all, sometimes it’s these unconventional approaches that end up changing how we think about AI tools altogether.
