ChatGPT is so far the best AI chat bot on the Internet. And there are some features that most of the people are not aware. Even if you are aware of those features, but here are some ways you can benefit it that you may not know I have given with examples and also some ideas how you can use those features for any type of work for coding writing, casual work anything else?
So read each feature what it is and what are the benefits of it and how you can use it for your use cases.

1. Advanced Voice: Natural Conversations with AI
The Advanced Voice feature is a new capability that enables natural, real-time voice conversations with AI. It sounds like you are speaking with a friend, mentor, or regular human, but it’s actually an AI.
Core Capabilities
This Advanced Voice feature allows fluid, human-like conversations with ChatGPT using voice input and output.
This feature can understand and respond in many languages and various types of slang too.
Real-time web search was recently announced in their 12-day OpenAI announcement for this Advanced Voice feature.
Practical Applications
It has many benefits based on your requirements. If you are a developer, you can give permission to editor tools like VS Code or Cursor, and you can simultaneously chat with ChatGPT using the Advanced Voice feature to get real-time responses and suggestions.
You can also use it for recipes or learning a new language. I want to learn Spanish for a very long time, but I had no idea where to start. I can use the app called Duolingo to learn it by seeing the text, but I want to know the pronunciation, which Duolingo lacks. With ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice, I can learn new languages and also practice my pronunciation. I can ask the assistant to evaluate my accent and provide feedback on any needed changes or improvements — it’s very accurate and gives good feedback.
Recently, I needed to practice for an interview, so I used Advanced Voice to conduct mock interviews. I had ChatGPT act as the interviewer while I answered questions. It was a real conversation where it asked follow-up questions based on my answers, which made it very useful.
2. Advanced Voice with Video: Visual Interaction
So you understand what Advanced Voice is, and now you can add an extra layer with video.
Camera Features
You can turn on the camera option in the Advanced Voice feature and have a real-time conversation with the AI — it has very rapid responses.
It can be used for various purposes. Recently, I used it to learn how to use a coffee machine. I also use it for learning about products. I’ve seen posts where users utilize this feature to play games like poker — this person showed their poker cards to the camera and asked what and how to play. They even won the game! It has very real-time responses, so it’s quite helpful.
Screen Sharing Capabilities
Not just using camera, but also screen sharing.
You can give permissions to share your screen on either Android or iOS, and you can open any app or website and ask questions. As ChatGPT can see the screen, it can answer you, and it will be a real-time conversation. You can close the app and open another app — like WhatsApp — and ask what you should reply, and it gives you information.
I used it to play games too, and it works. I played chess with ChatGPT twice using screen sharing, and it gave me very good suggestions about my next moves. It has a logical brain, so it can analyze what my opponent is doing and suggest what my next move should be — it’s very helpful.
So this video or screen sharing is not available on desktop, so you can’t do anything there as of now.
3. Canvas: Interactive Workspace
Canvas is another powerful feature by OpenAI which helps users interact with ChatGPT for writing and coding tasks.
Key Features
It has an interactive workspace with a split-screen interface where users can view their original content on one side and the AI-assisted edits on the other, allowing for easy comparison and iteration.
Also, you can do direct editing in the canvas interface rather than giving a new prompt every time and getting different responses for each prompt.
It also has contextual understanding — it can better grasp the context of your project, allowing for more targeted, relevant assistance.
Version history provides the ability to revert to previous versions of your work, ensuring no changes are permanent, which is also beneficial for comparing with previous versions.
Use Cases
As mentioned, this is useful primarily for writing and coding tasks. For regular usage, it may not be the best option, but for those two purposes, it is very helpful and useful.
I am a writer, so whatever I write in the canvas, I can easily edit just a single line or adjust paragraphs instead of giving a new prompt in the chat every time, which is messy because ChatGPT can’t give the same answer it provided previously. This makes it a great option for me as a writer to work more effectively.
4. Work With: Desktop Integration
ChatGPT’s “Work with Apps” feature is a great update to the desktop application, both on macOS and Windows. It directly integrates with some apps, and you can work directly with the desktop applications running on your computer. This feature has contextual understanding, improving the presentation and relevance of generated responses.
Integration Examples
Currently, I use Work with Apps on Cursor (code editor like VS Code), Notion, and Terminal. I can highlight any text in these apps and ask ChatGPT to help me with questions. I don’t need to switch or paste the text into ChatGPT to get a general response — ChatGPT will analyze what I’m working on in that particular app and give me a response based on that context.
I use it while coding on Cursor. I’m not great at coding, so I shared permissions with ChatGPT on Cursor. Whenever I have an inquiry, I just highlight the text, and automatically ChatGPT knows what I’ve highlighted and what I’m working on. When I ask a question, it gives me responses that are suitable for that specific code. It works similarly with Notion — I can highlight any text and ask questions to help me write, or even ask random questions. It contextually analyzes what I’m working on in Notion and provides responses based on that.
Unlike using ChatGPT and Notion or Cursor or other apps separately, I can integrate them and work seamlessly together.
Conclusion
I hope you find these features useful if you’re not aware of them. I apologize if you already knew about these features and feel I’ve wasted your time.
I think these are the top four features that make ChatGPT unique compared to its competitors, and these are the features that make ChatGPT very advanced.
If you’ve already used any of these features, please share your experience in the comments below so that new users can learn from your experience. While I’ve explained how I’ve used these features, you may have tried them for different purposes or use cases, which would be very helpful for others to know.
If you weren’t aware of these features until now, tell me in the comments which feature you like best in ChatGPT.
